Neelam, a lawyer and senior mediator from Delhi allays some doubts that the non-lawyers may have while venturing into the field of mediation and conflict resolution.

Dr. Umar explains that India, traditionally a collaborative society, must revive its indigenous culture of mediation rather than over-formalizing it under state control. He emphasizes that youth involvement is crucial for mainstreaming mediation and suggests connecting with them through community, university, and school programs. He further notes that mediation builds vital life skills such as communication and collaboration, aligning with global skill demands, and should be promoted as both a cultural and career-enriching practice.
